What can you do with painted corn? Here are some suggestions:
FOOD and CULINARY -
- Flour and cornmeal: The dried kernels can be ground into a soft, fluffy flour or coarser cornmeal for baking cornbread, tortillas, and pancakes
- Hominy and masa: The dried corn can be nixtamalized with lime or wood ash and used to make hominy or ground into masa for dishes like posole
- Polenta: Cornmeal made from the kernels can be used to make polenta
- Other dishes: It can be used in soups, stews, or parched (toasted)
DECORATIVE and ARTISTIC -
- Autumn decorations: The colorful ears of dried corn are popular for fall decorations
- Art projects: You can use the dried cobs for crafts
ANIMAL FEED
- The harvested corn can be fed to livestock and poultry
